About This Project

82 Queen street was originally a single family home located in the downtown core of St. Catharines. The site was redeveloped into a 2 unit semi-detached house which features traditional architectural design to fit in with the heritage and character of the historical downtown district.

The left side, #82A, is a 1,700 sqft home, while the right side, #82, is a 1,360 sqft home featuring an “upside down house” floor plan. In #82, the living room, kitchen and dining room are on the upper floor, as well as a beautiful balcony overlooking Montebello Park. The unit also features an exterior entrance to the basement level, which has been utilized as a home office, a live-work unit and is currently an accessory apartment.

Both units have access to a private parking space, located at either side of the building. The design utilizes techniques to avoid a garage-dominant building style, which emphasizes the pedestrian environment and lessens the impact of vehicular presence.  

This development has stood the test of time, and is continuously praised for its seamless integration into the community. The development of 82 Queen Street is consistently utilized as an example for positive infilling across the Niagara Region.
